The jam sessions are certainly one of the most identifying marks of Guimarães Jazz. It is this improvisational perspective that unveils the more informal nature of jazz, one that both allows the public to appreciate this musical form in a more direct way and brings audiences closer to the musicians.
This year, the jam sessions at the Convívio Cultural Association and the CCVF Café Concerto will be led by bassist and composer Matt Ulery, who will be accompanied by young musicians from the Chicago jazz scene: pianist Rob Clearfield, saxophonist Greg Ward and drummer Quin Kirchner. Joining the group will be virtuoso violinist Zack Brock who, despite his young age, has made quite a name for himself on the jazz scene in America.
