The Omniae Ensemble is originally a septet led by Pedro Melo Alves and used by him as at the same time as a band and a collective of directed improvisation. At Guimarães Jazz, the septet will perform in an extended version of twenty-two musicians, adapted to a new format directed by prestigious percussionist and director Pedro Carneiro. This performance will be the première of an ambitious musical project created by a heterodox musician and composer, creator of music in tune with the stylistically deterritorialized tendencies of the twenty-first-century global music and which, independently of one’s considerations about its formal qualities, indicates the will to acquire a unique musical identity capable of reaching superior degrees of emotional and aesthetical resonance.
